a new wave of literature

Or, more accurately, the return, the restoration, of an old one.
After months and years of delay, my traditional Christian small press has officially launched and opened for submissions. It's been a long time coming, and it's still going to be a long process of getting this press on its feet and into the world like I want it (I'm balancing 2.5 other jobs + personal life and family), but we've made it to the first milestone, for which I am immensely grateful (and relieved).
Right now, Sky's the Limit Press is just a drop in the ocean of the literary industry. By the grace of God, we have two authors and three books slated for publication. And from there, the sky really is the limit. Like our old website site said, we hope to surpass it. To be limitless.
Even if it's only one drop, one splash, one ripple at a time, our mission is to “usher in a new wave of literature". Not just more “clean" books. Not just more “Christian" books. Not just more [insert adjective here]. But an era of books that go beyond the labels, that don't fit in the categories and the neat (or messy, in some cases) little boxes. Books that are real and good and beautiful and true. Books that mean something beyond dollar signs and stars.
So in a way, it's nothing new. It's simply a return to, a revival of an old era. It's finding what we'd lost and striving to reclaim something forgotten. It's a remembering and restoring. It's focusing on creating a few genuinely good stories instead of churning out dozens, if not hundreds, of mediocre books a year just so we can get a foothold on the industry, when in reality we're just getting lost in it as surely as if we weren't writing any Christian fiction at all.
Make sense?
It's not that we all need to be Lewis and Tolkien. It's that we all need to be ourselves, in our most authentic and excellent form. We all need to write the story God has placed on our heart with the same kind of dedication Tolkien put into his languages and the same kind of creativity L'Engle put into A Wrinkle in Time and the same truth Lewis wove into Narnia and the same kind of passion and devotion and conviction and excellence as every other great Christian author before us.
The reason why these writers went down in history is because they were a little bit revolutionary for their time. They completely changed the future of literature; the industry is marked by their work and influence.
We want to see more writers who are a little bit revolutionary, a little bit world-changing. We want to see more books that are full of truth and beauty and grace, full of passion and conviction and creativity. We want to see more light and life and glory in the literary world.
If that sounds like something you could get behind, we invite you to join us. Become part of the mission. Discover what it means to write excellently, for the glory of God.
