One day, a nineteen-year-old girl with a couple hundred bucks decided it would be a great idea to start her own traditional publishing company. So she did.
Maybe it wasn't the most financially-wise decision or the best time to embark on such an endeavor, but it was something God laid on my heart after years in the self-publishing world, watching my friends' dreams get rejected and good books collect dust.
Authors deserve better than traditional publishers consider with profit, politics, and optimization. And readers deserve better than shoddily thrown-together self-published books that may or may not be worth the $20 they pay for them.
There's a gap in the industry, and I don't say that lightly. Someone has to step forward and make a way for high quality literature. Who cares if it sells or not? If one reader gets their hands on a book that rocks their world, I've succeeded. If one author's dream comes true, I'll be happy.
Sky's the Limit Press isn't anything grand. It's not a viable business venture (but is anything these days?) or my ticket to retirement. It's a literary ministry, in which we have the opportunity to honor God from the first draft to the final printing.
